Why you need to support sex workers?

it is very important to support sex-worker-led organization like ADPWL. If meaningful and effective impacts are desired for sex workers, it is best to support sex-worker-led organizations. Supporting sex workers through sex-worker-led organizations is the right thing to do for many reasons, including:

Sense of Community: Community members feel more comfortable sharing their feelings, issues and challenges with each other.

Access to Sex Workers: It is easier to reach to the target community members with services. Our organization provided services to over 500 sex workers within 12 months.

No stigma and discrimination: The community is not stigmatized or discriminated in any way as the staff also belong to the same community.

Anonymity: Sex workers are often worried about their occupation being disclosed, but where staff and service providers are themselves sex workers, sex workers who receive services have fewer concerns.

Accuracy: Sex workers often answer questions with positive or desirable information rather than accuracy. However, when a community member asks the questions, sex workers provide more accurate answers because they do not hesitate to express their true feelings and they do not fear stigmatization for their honesty.

Confidentiality: As the service providers/staff are also from the same community and face similar challenges, they understand the importance of keeping information confidential.

Culture and Language: Communities often have their own ways of communicating with each other. Hiring staff from the local sex work community ensures that sex workers are able to express themselves comfortably during interactions with the staff. And, staff understanding the argot of the community ensures that no one’s voice is misunderstood or misrepresented.

Cost: Hiring staff from within the community typically leads to better results within a shorter timeframe.

So please support sex workers and change the game!
